Sinatra quickly became a successful solo artist in the early to mid-1940s, and was the idol of the "bobby soxers." In May 1941, Sinatra was at the top of the male singer polls in the Billboard and Down Beat magazines. These rare radio broadcast are from the 1940s sponsored by Old Gold Cigarettes. Great Gildersleeve Radio Classics

The Great Gildersleeve is a wonderful family classic radio sitcom. If you're traveling this holiday season we recommend this collection. Put it in the CD player for miles of smiles. Written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on Fibber McGee and Molly, was first Introduced in a 1932 broadcast. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity. Old Time Radio Classics

We've just added several new Classic Radio Collections. Mr. President is one of our best collections yet. This series was created by Robert Jennings. Each week the president was played by Edward Arnold and included a supporting cast of Bea Benaderet, Gil Stratton, Hans Conried, Lurene Tuttle, and Herb Butterfield. Mr. President ran on the ABC Network from June 26, 1947 to September 23, 1953. Each half-hour episode was based on an incident in the life of one of the people who have held the office of President of the United States. The scripts were written in such a way as not to reveal the name of the President until the last line of dialog at the end of the program, when the President would be revealed. The audience was thus encouraged to guess, from the plot of the episode, which President it was. Mr. President Volumes one and two you'll get 32 eipsodes of this rare classic.
